I had the worst OCB trip in my life yesterday. The key to going to any all you can eat buffet is to eat a lot of food -- up to a point between being a little too full, and eating too much. It's a fine line that sometimes you won't know whether you've crossed until hours after the buffet experience. It's this line that you can't cross that mentally either keeps you coming back to buffets or if you happen to drift over, makes you sick just thinking about them. Yesterday, I shot over the line. While the meal lasted from 6:45PM to 9:15PM, the effects were felt until I fell asleep -- at 3 AM.
I knew something was wrong after I managed to finish only one cone of soft serve ice cream. I simply felt too full -- and the feeling didn't go away. Not when I left the restaurant, not when I went to Albertsons to buy milk, not when I watched TV until midnight, and in fact kept me up for another three hours afterwards; my abdominal pain causing me to toss and turn in bed trying to find a good position to alleviate the problem while alternately releasing both loud and rancid farts and burps.
Fortunately for me, as an experienced Old Country Buffet enthusiast, I am able to deal with these occasional road blocks with no mental side effects for forthcoming buffet trips. While the lesser buffet attendee might think twice about going next time, I'm already mentally prepared for my next fantastic trip to Factoria -- hopefully within the next week or two.
