Soaring Stamps

Is anyone else stuck with stamps from yesteryears which don't cover the cost to send a regular letter? With two postage rate hikes in the past two years, I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat. I still have a good chunk of a 41¢ stamp roll, and already felt silly having to purchase a large sheet of 1¢ stamps to supplement the roll every time I wanted to mail something. Last month there was another 2¢ increase by the USPS, resulting in a 44¢ postage rate. Now all my letters look like this:

A veritable block of stamps. As it stands the only mail I'm sending is a letter each month to pay off my credit card bill, so if my estimation of about fifty 41¢ stamps left in the roll holds true it will be another four years before I finally rid myself of the outdated postage. Thinking further, if there is an 1.5¢ average hike of the rates, we'll be at a solid 50¢ in 2013. Can you imagine having to slap on ten stamps just to mail a regular letter? Granted, my 1¢ stamps will run out and I'll be able to purchase stamps of slightly higher denomination, but I didn't think that sending a simple letter would ever require a decent chunk of mathematics.
