1:6 Guessing Game

Inspired by the 1:6 scale figure heads a few posts back, I thought I'd investigate this world of miniturization further and pick out some of the better ones. To make it more fun and interactive, I've designed a game. Presenting: Guess the Toy Head! Answers below.

ABC
DEF

Remember, each of these heads is a little smaller than a ping pong ball. Imagine the expertise, steady hands, critical eyes, and patience needed to be able to make these. While some of the above are "better" than others, I think each manages to effectively capture the likeness of their reference.

  1. too easy! but very impressive work, especially the joker.

and that's really fancy the way you did the answers upside down.

  2. There were some nasty ones that people were selling that looked nothing like who they were supposed to be -- didn't want to have a crappy game after all.

That being said, I noticed that there was a definite lack of female heads... and it soon dawned on me why. If you have a 1:6 scale plastic toy of a girl, you're playing with dolls! But as long as the toy in question is male and has a knife, gun, or other death-inducing accessory, it's OK.

And thanks -- upside down letters are a tribute to old school cereal boxes and activity books. Upside down text translators can be found with a simple Google search.

  3. no, I think the real test is the hair. If the hair is made out of the same thing as the rest of the head, then it's an action figure. If the hair is soft barbie-ish stuff, then it's a doll.
