Breakfast of Champions

10:11AM

It's good to see a friendly face out here - Alberton's, my prefered neighborhood grocery store. There, I picked up a semi-complete breakfast: from left to right, bananas, chocolate milk, giant Arrowhead water (for the day), Lunchables pizza box, and a bag of generic Frosted Mini-Wheats knockoff. This food run commemorates our exit from the extremely clean and wide sidewalked Salt Lake City. We should be home by midnight.

2:19PM: Feed Me...

We are at the biggest gas station I have ever seen - nine pumps for cars and RVs in the front, and who knows how many for big rigs in the back. If you look closely, you can see Trevor wiping down his hubcaps. We just finished lunch at a food court in a Twin Falls mall, and are about to continue onward to Boise, which is a bit under 200 miles away.

7:19PM: Full Service

Trevor and I stopped at a Shell station in La Grande, Oregon to fill up (we were dangerously close to hitting the "E" on the gauge) and were conversing about our plans for the trip onward when I turned my head to get out of the drivers side door and saw a hooded man making a beeline right for us. Debating whether or not to quickly close the door, I decided upon a salutation. Trevor then chimed in, remembering that in Oregon, all the gas stations are full service (something I never knew). So no danger was actually present, but when I tell this story again next week, it'll be about the time I almost got shanked at an Oregon gas station but managed to disarm the man with my three liter jug of Arrowhead water before driving off with the good looking lady Shell cashier, immediately relegating Trevor to third wheel status.

---------
9:27PM: Escape from Tri-Cities

A next exit proclaiming a "Rest Stop" ended up being a rest stop next to a small shopping center complete with two gas stations, four fast food establishments, a winery, gift shop, and a Starbucks -- we're back in Washington. So our choice was a scary dingy dark restroom surrounded by big rigs, or a bright surprisingly clean Cheveron station... easy decision. This should be our last stop before we make it back home in an estimated three hours. Above is a picture of Trevor's GPS that's on more for coolness sake than navigating purposes. After all, he's got a real-life geographer aboard!

Wednesday, 12:14AM: Home

I am safely at home after Trevor masterly handled the heavy rain/small-medium downpour we encountered through the Snoqualmie Pass. Going to upload pictures and maybe writeup a final thingie tomorrow, but now it's time to sleep. The trip was enjoyable, and my thanks for Trevor for getting me out there -- I was able to see things I probably won't see again in my life.
